INOV will be part of the programme of the European Researchers’ Night 2026, taking place next Friday, 25 September, from 5:00 p.m. to midnight at the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC) and Lisbon Botanical Garden. Organised by the University of Lisbon, the event invites the public to explore different areas of science and innovation through a wide range of free activities.
INOV’s institutional presence at MUHNAC will be presented under the theme “Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and intelligent technologies”, with the aim of showcasing three projects and their applications in different fields: cultural heritage, fire protection and vocational training in agriculture.
Among the technologies on display will be a portable module developed as part of the ANCHISE project, combining fluorescence spectroscopy and Artificial Intelligence to estimate the age of paper and support the authentication of documents and manuscripts. The technology aims to contribute to the identification of forgeries and to the fight against the illicit trafficking of cultural heritage.
IGNIS will be presented through an automated system for the early detection of fires, using intelligent technologies to identify fire-related signals and support a faster response. iNsense, meanwhile, demonstrates how the Internet of Things can be integrated into vocational training through an educational kit combining sensors, communication technologies, microcontrollers and actuators, including LoRa technology, to explore the development of complete IoT systems.
INOV’s participation in the European Researchers’ Night aims to demonstrate how technologies developed in a scientific context can address concrete challenges, in line with the event’s mission of bringing research and science closer to the general public. The demonstration of the three projects will be available at MUHNAC throughout the event, with free admission, on 25 September, from 5:00 p.m. to midnight.
